„The passion for dancing has accompanied me during my whole life...”

I was born in Havana. My fascination with dance began in Italy, where as a little child I watched a world full of singing and dancing. I brought this infant inspiration with me to Sweden, where my family moved for a few years. My Scandinavian childhood was connected with painting, creativity and classical dance. At the age of eleven I returned to my homeland - Cuba, where I grew up. Searching for my roots I got inspired by the Cuban dance and the kind of bonds people in Cuba make between each other. The music and sounds of Havana made me discover intimacy, touch, spontaneity and the ability to express myself through my body.

My spiritual place in the Universe has been defined by my relationship with my uncle – outstanding scientist and psychologist Rafael Alvisa - and the influence of such personalities as Carlos Castaneda, Krishnamurti, as well as the wisdom of Kabbalah and Afro-Cuban religion. I learnt to live attentively and to clear the time from illusion and convictions.

My Cuban experience inspired me to pursue further education in Spain (sociology) and Poland (psychology). I began to examine interpersonal relationships, but most importantly – the relationship with myself. With numerous transfers into new cultural circles and emotional patterns, I had to rediscover myself many times.

In Poland this process started all over again. In return I offered spontaneity and dance. Having run the Salsa School for six years I had the opportunity to watch how people changed under the influence of dance and by being in contact with other individuals. I saw sadness, emotional blocks and observed how embarrassment turned into joy, openness and intimacy.

The cultural differences related to intimacy, touch, sexuality and the behaviors of women and men led me to studies about manhood and womanhood in the field of dance.

My professional experiences as psychologist and dance instructor started to blend. I began to look for answers in my own body movement, which was completely new and unique. I ran many different types of classes and ended up with my own style, which was a mixture of both my personal and dance experiences.

Cuban street was my teacher, so were all the life circumstances, which accumulated in one moment to emerge in the expression of dance.

During my classes I pass on this knowledge and skills, using all the wisdom I gained during dozens of personal development courses completed in Poland and abroad, body and breath awareness techniques as well as features of Latin dances, such as Cuban Salsa, Reggaeton, Merengue, Bachata, energizing and relaxing dances, based on body gestures originating from Afro-Cuban dances.

The way I go leads to freedom, space, ease of being, true contact with other persons and myself. I gain this through the dance, which is my passion and method of sharing my discoveries and experiences with other people. I am interested in awareness in each aspect of life.
